Mia's 1st Swim Meet - "Icee Meet"

Mia had her first swim meet yesterday. She did GREAT!! She swam 25 meters (1 way across an olympic sized pool) four times each time doing a different stroke. She received 4 ribbons for her efforts and her swim times were all under 2 minutes and 15 seconds! AWESOME JOB!!

Here she is on her mark waiting for the horn to sound on her first swim....Freestyle, 25 meters, she swam it in 1:23 minutes (1 minute, 23 seconds). Her second swim was the Breast stroke, 25 meters, and swam it in 1:45 minutes. Her third swim was the Back Stroke, 25 meters, and swam it in 2:01 minutes. Her fourth and last swim was the Fly, 25 meters and swam it in 2:14 minutes.

Even though the kids were timed they were not competing against each other. Everyone was a winner. Coach CeCe times the kids so that she can compare their times at each meet to see their progress.

She's in about 10 feet of water WITHOUT her noodle!!I begged her to use a noodle, which she reluctantly did, so that she wouldn't wear herself out. She was swimming 100 meters total. The day before the meet she swam 75 meters without a noodle and was wore out on her last swim.

Here she is finishing one of her meets. She had to learn to touch the wall in order for the clock to stop and her meet to be complete. AND, here's the "STAR SWIMMER" with 1 of her 4 ribbons. Every child that completed his/her swim was awarded with a ribbon for each stroke.
Mia's Nanny Laurie came to see her swim. I didn't tell Mia so she would be surprised.
All the swimmers with their Icee's and Coach CeCe giving a final talk about their first meet and what to expect for the next one. She also congratulated each swimmer for a job well done.
Cracking up with Nanny while we waited for our food from the Cafe. She was worn out and fell asleep within 5 minutes after hitting her pillow.

Playhouse Disney Live

Last Friday was Playhouse Disney Live in Baton Rouge. The Rodriguez and Callahan families went to the show and had a great time seeing all the Playhouse Disney characters.

Here's the stage sign.

Mia and Kaitlin waiting for the show to begin.
In awe of what they see on the stage - MICKEY MOUSE!! I love that both of their mouths are opened.
Darby & Friends - She's the new character added to Winnie the Pooh. Pooh, Darby and Tigger are in search of musical sounds. Handy Manny and his tools!!
The show wouldn't be a Playhouse Disney show UNLESS, you did the "HOT DOG, HOT DOG, HOT DIGGITY DOG" dance. Mia and Kaitlin were out of their seats doing the dance. Here's the entire cast at the Playhouse Music Party: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald Duck, The Little Einsteins (Leo, June, Annie, Quincy), Darby, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Handy Manny & Tools. The Mickey Mouse Club House gang.
The end of the show with confetti & balloons coming down on stage.Mia with the Disney cast behind her.

The End...Mickey and Minnie kissing good-bye.

Mia's first homework assignment - Boris Bear

Mia's first assignment for school was bringing home Boris Bear and making sure he didn't eat all the cookies in the house. She had to pick out a book at the class library to bring home so we could read it to Boris Bear. Then Mia had to write or draw a picture in Boris' journal of her favorite part of the book. The next day at circle time, they re-read the book and Mia got to talk about what she drew in the journal. Boris will be coming home with Mia about 1o times this year.
