Mia's first day of Pre-K at OLL

Today was Mia's first day of school. She woke up a little after 6:00 a.m. and wanted to get dressed first. Mia and Sandy.
Ms. Sassy shaking her hips.
Her princess backpack and her hair ribbons that we bought from the OLL Cheerleaders. She was so excited to wear her new hair ribbon that matched her uniform.
Mia in front of the school gate showing OLL. Mia and her daddy in her classroom. After a few minutes of her checking things out and starting play at the kitchen center, she told us we could go. We found out that Samuel, who went to Primary Colors, is in her class and will sit next to her. She also saw 4 other friends from Primary Colors on the playground. They have other Pre-K teachers.

This is one of the postings in the classroom. It shows all the children's pictures next to their names. Mia has 20 kids in her class.

Mia meets her new teachers at OLL

On Thursday we went to Our Lady of Lourdes for Parent Check-In day, pay all our dues and fees; purchase Mia's mat, spirit t-shirt and bring her school supplies to her new classroom. Here's Mia pointing to her name on the table and Ms. Cheryl, Mia's new Teacher Aide. This is Mia, Ms. Cheryl and Mia's new Pre-K teacher, Ms. Parris on the rug where they will have circle time.

Mia and Ms. Parris looking at last year's scrapbook. Mia was excited when she learned that she will go on lots of field trips. She's never been on one. In the background are the cubbies and sleep mats.
Mia at the "Kitchen Center". One of the field trips that they will take is to a bakery to make cookies.
Mia with Ms. Parris walking around the classroom checking out all the new and neat things they will do this year. Mia did not want to leave after we filled out paperwork and put her supplies away. We must have stayed in the classroom at least an hour and a half talking to Ms. Parris and Ms. Cheryl and watching all the older girls and boys come say "hello". Mia found out that she will get to go to PE, music class, spanish class and best of all computer lab.

Dawson Birthdays

On Sunday we celebrated Jonathan, Cathy, Mike, Erin and Erica's birthdays. Here's Mike making homemade Red Cream Soda ice cream. He churned for 45 minutes and then it was done. Here's Pepper trying to keep cool.
The guys watching Mike churn, churn churn!
Mia ready to blow out the candles waiting for everyone to finish singing "Happy Birthday".
Pa lost his tooth. I hope the tooth fairy paid lots of money!! He should get his replacement soon.

New Windows / Very much improved driveway

Once again, THANKS to the guys (John, Ronnie and Tony) for coming over to help us with putting new windows in the breakfast room. We did this on the hottest day of the year. It was 102 degrees and 110 heat index. At least they got a gust of a/c once the old window was removed!!!

Ronnie putting in our new fan and you can see the new windows...YEAH! Hopefully this room will be cooler and our bill will go down a few $$$'s. And, a BIG THANKS to Tony for edging our driveway and getting the overgrown grass over to some areas that had sand. Our driveway looks much wider now!!

OLL Meet-n-Greet at Heritage Park

Today we went to Heritage Park for the Our Lady of Lourdes "Meet me at the park" gathering of all Pre-K and Kindergarten girls and boys. Here's Mia hanging from the swing bars. Mia and her new friend Joshua swinging.
Here are all the kids together for a picture that will be submitted to the newspaper. You can't see Mia in this picture. She's on the left behind Anna (first girl on the left side) in the pink shirt. The photographer was on top of the play area so hopefully when it hits the paper, we will see Mia.
Here's Mia and her friend Anna who also goes to Primary Colors Preschool. We'll find out next Thursday if they will be in the same Pre-K class.
