Kaitlin's 5th Birthday Tea Party

A weekend of birthday parties. Kaitlin's birthday party was on Saturday. She had a Tea Party at Creative Dance.

Here's Mia getting her make-up done. She had her nails done too. The is Ms. Jennifer who was the party hostess and is also Mia's dance teacher. Craft time! Each child decorated a zippered bag. This is Mia's finished product.
Tea time! Everyone put on their tea hat and waited to be served lemonade or hot tea. Then they were served refreshments to go with their "tea". Cheese quesadilla's, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, sausage bites, bagel pizza, scones and cakes.
Here are all the girls (and boy, Cooper, not pictured) enjoying their tea time. Mia sat next to Vanessa and on the other side of the table are Hannah (can see her yellow headband behind Kaitlin), the Birthday Girl, Kaitlin and Michelle who sprained her arm when she fell backwards off a swing.

Mia's field trip - Fire Station, Pumpkin Patch & Park

Mia had her first field trip yesterday. They went to the Fire Station, across the street to a Pumpkin Patch and back across the street to the park for lunch and to play. I was exhausted when I got home at 1:00 p.m.

Here's Mia on her first bus ride. She is in the lower right corner of the middle window.

All 3 Pre-K classes went on the field trip together. Here's Mia sitting on the tarp waiting for the fireman to come out to teach them about fire safety.
Here's the fireman who talked to the kids about fire safety. You can see a mini fire truck on the left sleeping. This is Eddie. He sleeps a lot at the fire station. The kids had to yell to wake him up.
Here's Mia and her classmates showing how to check to see if a door is hot.
When a firemen has on all his gear, he's carrying an extra 75 pounds. All the kids were invited up the hug or give him five. Mia gave him five REAL quick.
Mia with the firemen's hat on her head. The jaws of life!
Mia driving the truck.Mia's class learning about the "smoke house".In the "smoke house" learning what to do if a fire starts in your house and how to get out. From left to right are: Corryn, Myles, Daniel, Carlee and Mia.
Here's the smoke and all the kids learning to get down on the ground and crawl out to the nearest exit. Mia crawling out the "smoke house".

Mia practicing to Stop, Drop (& cover your eyes) and RollEveryone got a tour of the fire house. The kids all thought it was funny that they slept in the same room.Eddie woke up again and starting spraying water from his nose trying to spray all the kids. The Pumpkin Patch....United Methodist Church...across the street from the Fire House.

The kids sat on hay bales and listened to two stories about Halloween. They played toss the bean bag through the pumpkin head. Everyone won two stickers. They were able to pick out a small pumpkin each and bring it home.Next was craft time. They colored, cut out and glued a pumpkin to a brown paper bag to make a pumpkin puppet. We went back across the street to the park and ate lunch. Afterwards all the kids played on the playground. Here's Mia and MacKenzie (love her flying blonde hair) swinging.Time to go back to school. Here's Mia getting on the school bus for the ride back to school.

Now do you see why I was so exhausted after this field trip??? It was lots of fun!!!

Mia at Mommy's work

Mia's 1st Swim Meet - "Icee Meet"

Mia had her first swim meet yesterday. She did GREAT!! She swam 25 meters (1 way across an olympic sized pool) four times each time doing a different stroke. She received 4 ribbons for her efforts and her swim times were all under 2 minutes and 15 seconds! AWESOME JOB!!

Here she is on her mark waiting for the horn to sound on her first swim....Freestyle, 25 meters, she swam it in 1:23 minutes (1 minute, 23 seconds). Her second swim was the Breast stroke, 25 meters, and swam it in 1:45 minutes. Her third swim was the Back Stroke, 25 meters, and swam it in 2:01 minutes. Her fourth and last swim was the Fly, 25 meters and swam it in 2:14 minutes.

Even though the kids were timed they were not competing against each other. Everyone was a winner. Coach CeCe times the kids so that she can compare their times at each meet to see their progress.

She's in about 10 feet of water WITHOUT her noodle!!I begged her to use a noodle, which she reluctantly did, so that she wouldn't wear herself out. She was swimming 100 meters total. The day before the meet she swam 75 meters without a noodle and was wore out on her last swim.

Here she is finishing one of her meets. She had to learn to touch the wall in order for the clock to stop and her meet to be complete. AND, here's the "STAR SWIMMER" with 1 of her 4 ribbons. Every child that completed his/her swim was awarded with a ribbon for each stroke.
Mia's Nanny Laurie came to see her swim. I didn't tell Mia so she would be surprised.
All the swimmers with their Icee's and Coach CeCe giving a final talk about their first meet and what to expect for the next one. She also congratulated each swimmer for a job well done.
Cracking up with Nanny while we waited for our food from the Cafe. She was worn out and fell asleep within 5 minutes after hitting her pillow.

Last Friday was Playhouse Disney Live in Baton Rouge. The Rodriguez and Callahan families went to the show and had a great time seeing all the Playhouse Disney characters.

Here's the stage sign.

Mia and Kaitlin waiting for the show to begin.
In awe of what they see on the stage - MICKEY MOUSE!! I love that both of their mouths are opened.
Darby & Friends - She's the new character added to Winnie the Pooh. Pooh, Darby and Tigger are in search of musical sounds. Handy Manny and his tools!!
The show wouldn't be a Playhouse Disney show UNLESS, you did the "HOT DOG, HOT DOG, HOT DIGGITY DOG" dance. Mia and Kaitlin were out of their seats doing the dance. Here's the entire cast at the Playhouse Music Party: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald Duck, The Little Einsteins (Leo, June, Annie, Quincy), Darby, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Handy Manny & Tools.
